Done Deal: AC Milan set to sign Jean-Philippe Mateta

AC Milan have been lurking in the transfer market, for most of the month as they look to boost their squad. However, Milan have only officially signed one player so far. Niclas Fullkrug came in at the start of the month as a striker for this Milan side but they won’t stop there.

Milan are on the verge of signing another according to Nico Schira via X. Jean-Philippe Mateta is set to join the Rossoneri, for the near future. Milan looked into signing in the last fortnight, but the deal looked unlikely as Crystal Palace wanted 40 million euros. Milan didn’t want to pay this high so they walked away from the deal.

However, yesterday Crystal Palace completed a deal to sign Jorgen Strand Larsen from Wolverhampton Wanderers. This has now meant that Mateta is back up for sale to any interested club. Nottingham Forest made an offer for Mateta worth 35 million euros, but Mateta doesn’t want to stay in England.

This has lead Mateta to Milan, as the Rossoneri put in a 30 million euro bid. Palace are reluctantly being forced to accept the bid for Mateta. This comes as Crystal Palace want to sell Mateta before the end of the window so they don’t get stuck with two attackers for the rest of the season.

Thankfully, for Crystal Palace the deal could be completed in the coming hours. This comes as Mateta and AC Milan have agreed on a contract for the next four years, which would keep Mateta in Milan until he is 32. Mateta will earn 3.5 million per season during his time in Milan.
