Romelu Lukaku close to joining Fenerbahce this summer as Napoli close in on an replacement

Romelu Lukaku season for Napoli was all but completely sidelined due to injury. Lukaku only played five Serie A games for Napoli with only one goal during. But, he was on fire during the World Cup, scoring three goals in six games for Belguim, as they were eliminated in the quarterfinals.

Lukaku’s top form in the World Cup is not enough to convince Napoli to keep him with his 12 million per season salary. Antonio Conte as also replaced by Massimiliano Allegri, which didn’t help Lukaku’s chance of staying. Thankfully, for Lukaku he will manage to get a move to Fenerbahce.

Nico Schira is reporting that Napoli are close to a deal with an agreement with Fenerbahce for 10 million euros plus bonuses. Napoli are asking for 10 million euros, as any lower for Lukaku would force them to take a balance sheet loss. Fenerbahce have also agreed terms with Lukaku for a deal until 2028 worth 8 million euros per season.

Napoli are also working on a replacement and could try to sign Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal. Nico Schira is reporting that Gabriel Jesus is open to making a move to join Napoli next season. Napoli are also interested in signing Jesus as Arsenal could decide to sell him this summer.

Jesus is even open to taking a pay-cut if that what he needs to do to complete a deal. However, to sign any player Napoli will need to sell players to make it possible as they don’t have transfer funds.
