AC Milan offer another midfielders in a swap deal for Federcio Gatti

One of the bigger stories that has gone under the radar this January is AC Milan’s search for a new centre back. They aren’t looking for a game changer, but someone who can add depth to their squad. Especially as they have been struggling recently in the defensive third.

In Milan last two games, they have conceded first to both Genoa and Fiorentina. This has lead them drawing both games which should be considered easy wins. And they could have easily lost both of these games needing goals in the 92nd and 9oth minute to save a point.

An extra centre back in Milan could take some of the pressure off their starters, who have been under a heavy work load. This is without European football as Massimiliano Allegri has struggled to rotate his defence. This is why AC Milan have circled Federico Gatti from Juventus as a possible signing.

Gatti has worked with Allegri previously when Allegri was the head coach of Juventus, where Allegri was a huge fan of the Italian. However, it isn’t easy for Milan to go and get him as Gatti is also wanted by Juventus coach Luciano Spalletti, but he could be let go for a good offer.

The way to do this would be with finical incentives, but with financial fair play rules, this isn’t something Milan can afford right now. This has lead to Milan offering Juventus swap deals to persuade them to let go off Gatti. So far Milan have offered Juventus, there former player Koni De Winter. (read more here)

Now however, Milan will try to offer Juventus two different midfielders to complete a deal for Gatti. The first player they offered was Ruben Loftus-Cheek according to a report from TuttoSport. Loftus-Cheek has already been linked to an exit this January with Lazio having interest in him previously.

It looks like Loftus-Cheek will leave Milan this January, as he was linked to Lazio interested in his signing before looking elsewhere. Juventus are looking for an attacking midfielder this January, which has led to them following Federico Chiesa. While Loftus-Cheek does play this role he isn’ the type of player Juventus nede with Spalletti, at the helm.
