AC Milan have been one of the many Serie A teams chasing a striker this entire month. They managed to sign Niclas Fullkrug at the start of the month, but haven’t bought anyone else in since. Fullkrug is more of a stop gap then a permanent option for Milan, as they try to replace Santiago Gimenez, who isn’t wanted by Milan anymore.

Milan where linked to multiple names to sign this month, but the strongest was Jean-Philippe Mateta. However, this deal looked impossible, as Crystal Palace wanted 40 million euros for Mateta. The deal has now reopened thanks to Palace signing Jorgen Strand Larsen yesterday.

Luca Bianchin is now reporting that a move to Milan for Mateta is very close to completion. AC Milan raised their bid for Mateta to 35 million euros from 5 million euros to help complete the deal. Mateta choose a move to Milan, over staying in the Premier League with Nottingham Forest.

This isn’t the only good news for Milan, as Daniele Longo is reporting that Milan and Mateta have an agreement. This would see the two parties sign a four year deal, on a contract which will net Mateta 3.5 million euros per season. However, the clock is ticking as Milan try to complete the deal before the transfer deadline.
