Done Deal: Lorenzo Lucca to Nottingham Forrest on a loan to buy deal
Napoli suffered a big blow at the start of their pre season campaign as Romelu Lukaku went down with injury against Olympiacos in pre-season. When we learnt that Lukaku would be out for at least three months, Napoli’s search for a striker heated up and fast.
They were already on the look for a vice to Lukaku, someone who could come in and fit Conte’s system. This then lead to Napoli signing two strikers in the summer to spearhead Napoli’s attack. Lorenzo Lucca from Udinese and Rasmus Hojlund from Manchester United was the two moves Napoli made.
However, only half way through this season it is clear to see who has played better out of the two. Rasmus Hojlund has been far superior this season, and arguably Napoli’s best signing. Hojlund has scored nine goals this season to beat out the two that Lucca has scored so far.
Lukaku is set to be healthy enough to play once again soon, and with Lucca’s poor form Napoli aren’t hesitant to sell. This is especially true due to Lorenzo Lucca having multipule suitors across Europe. There was Pisa who wanted to bring him in on a dry loan.
But, Lucca has decided to make a move outside of Italy and join Premier League side Nottingham Forrest. The deal is now very complete according to Fabrizio Romano. This comes as Lucca is set to travel to England tomorrow to complete his medical tests with Forrest.
Lucca’s deal will be a loan with a option to buy deal which will make the total package around 40 million euros. However, Napoli will only see 1 million euros of that now as that is the loan fee which Forrest have to pay to have him for at least the next six months.
