Lois Openda set to leave Juventus to join Lyon after only one season at the club.
Juventus had a very disappointing season in the 2025/26 campaign as they finished sixth, missing out on Champions League football. The season struggled on the back of many poor individual performances, especially in attack. Jonathan David and Lois Openda both failed to find the net after signing for Juventus.
David could be spared by Juventus, because he was signed as a free agent. Because, David is a free agent he does no damage to finical fair play, so he will be given another chance for next season. But, Lois Openda buy clause of 40 million was activated at the start of this window, and he won’t receive the same luxury.

Jonathan David of Juventus Fc looks on during the Serie A football match between Torino Fc and Juventus Fc. The match ends in a tie 2-2.
Openda won’t be given the same luxuries as David because he takes a heavy toll on the balance sheet. Juventus are looking to sell him despite only one season in Turin. Openda’s first campaign with Juventus was massively underwhelming as he scored only two goals.
Nico Schira is reporting that Lois Openda leaving is already close as he will join Lyon. Lyon will sign Openda on a one-year loan deal that will include an option to buy. The price for the buy-option has not yet be disclosed, but will likely be less than what Juventus paid because of his poor form.
Openda has already agreed on a contract with Lyon until 2031, but this will only take place if they sign him permanently. Until then, Openda’s contract with Juventus that see’s him earn 4 million per season stands. Lyon consider this 4 million euros too much to pay Openda however, so Juventus will be forced to cover some of Openda’s salary during the loan.
