Inter Milan set to hold talks to sign Cristian Romero in the coming days

Inter Milan were comfortable champions of Serie A last summer, as the Nerazzuri took their 21st Scudetto. They are looking to continue on with this success, but will need to strength their defence. Stefan De Vrij and Francesco Acerbi both left Inter Milan as free agents after last season.

This was a tactical decision by Inter, aiming to remove some of the older players from their squad. But, they will need to be replaced especially if Benjamin Pavard is too leave. Pavard, isn’t liked by manager Cristian Chivu and spent last season on loan at Marseille.

Pavard could make a move to Saudi Arabia this summer according to Ekrem Konur. This is as Al Ittihad have made him a clear transfer target opening talks with his agent. Inter will demand 20 million euros to sell Pavard, which is higher than Marseille’s 15 million buy option.

This money will then likely be invested into sign a new defender, with Inter hoping it is Cristian Romero. Inter are hoping to sign Romero but will face fierce competition from elsewhere in Europe. Nonetheless, Inter will hold talks with Tottenham next week according to Nico Schira.

Inter Milan have a contract ready for Romero until 2031 if he is to join Inter. Romero has told the Nerazzuri he is open to a return to Italy, having played for Atalanta and Genoa before. Now, all that is left is closing the deal with Tottenham with Inter ready to offer a loan to buy deal to try and do so.
