AC Milan scouting young Sassuolo center back

AC Milan have been the highest climbers in Serie A this season, as they look rejuvenated from last campaign. This is mainly due to appointment of a new head coach Massimiliano Allegri. He has bought in a total new style focused on defending instead of attacking.

This has seen Milan climb up the table, as a reworking of their squad gave Allegri all the tools he needs. However, they still do have their issues, as it was impossible to solve all of Milan’s problems in one window. Now Allegri and Milan have to tackle the issue of depth.

Milan are lucky then other teams, only playing a singular game everyweek due to missing out on European qualification last season. This means that their back three of Stranjha Pavlovic, Mattia Gabbia and Fikayo Tomori has been unchanged most of the season. Now however, Allegri is having problems keeping all of them fit as they are playing the bulk of minutes for AC Milan this season.

This has left them looking to the upcoming January transfer window as a chance to boost their title fighting squad once again. Milan have therefore started scouting for players, and as of right now their main target is Sassuolo centre back Tarik Muharemovic.

This is if reports from Nico Schira via X are to be believed. This reports that they sent scouts to watch him play against Fiorentina this weekend. The game went well for Muharemovic as he scored their second goal, as Sassuolo cruised to a 3-1 win. The reports are backed by the fact that other clubs have been interested.

Inter Milan and Juventus have both been interested in signing Muharemovic in January. All three clubs fighting for the player could drive up the price, which would help Juventus. This is because they sold Muharemovic to Sassuolo and now hold a 50% sell on clause of a future sale. Something that they could wave if they decide to buy Muharemovic themselves, giving them a leg up.
