AC Milan have agreement with a new striker, as talks go on between clubs

AC Milan are looking to edge out their cross city rival, Inter Milan to the Scudetto this season. For Milan to do see they will need to improve their goalscoring. This has come in the last month or so Milan have required late goals to either draw or win games, but things are improving slowly.

The signing of Niclas Fullkrug from West Ham, has helped Milan’s attack. Fullkrug came up big against last Sunday for AC Milan, scoring the winner vs Lecce only three minutes after coming on. However, Fullkrug turns 33 in a couple of weeks, and with that age is hard to see him being a permanent replacement for Milan.

Of course AC Milan, still have Santiago Gimenez who is set to return from his ankle injury soon. However, there is uncertainty around his future, as his player profile isn’t liked by Milan coach, Massimiliano Allegri. Gimenez also doesn’t have the goal numbers to convince anyone at Milan to keep him.

Gimenez has now been at Milan for a year, and has only scored seven goals in his time. He had plenty of chances to find the back of the net for the Rossoneri playing a total of 30 games in his time at Milan. This poor form and dislike by Allegri is leading to Milan looking for his replacement.

This has lead to AC Milan making contacts to multiple strikers this month. Now, Santi Aouna is reporting that Milan have managed to agree terms with a striker. This is Jean-Phillipe Mateta who is looking for a way out of Crystal Palace this month. The only obstacle in his way for doing so now is Milan and Palace agreeing on terms for the deal.

However, this won’t be a easy feet as Palace have already turned away offers for Mateta. Juventus had terms agreed with Mateta but they were denied a deal by Palace. (read more here). AC Milan could fall into the same trap if they don’t agree to terms with Palace quickly.
