Roma close to signing Rodrigo Mora, with only minor disagreements stopping the deal
Roma’s midfield has been a major topic of discussion for most of their mercato. Neil El Ayanoui and Manu Kone were both seriously linked to leaving the capital for other clubs this summer. But, possible sales for both players fell through, as no foreign clubs, mainly from England were able to meet Roma’s demands.
However, the talks have flipped now as Roma are now in the market to sign a midfielder. The Giallorossi have set their sights on 19-year-old, Porto midfielder Rodrigo Mora. Galatasaray have also shown interest in signing Mora, even opening some contacts with Porto, but Roma have overtaken them in the race to sign Mora.
This comes as Mora wants to sign for Roma this summer. Nico Schira is reporting that Mora has already agreed a contract until 2031 to move to the capital for next season. Roma now just need to complete agree upon a transfer fee with Porto to complete the signing of Mora, with Gianluca Di Marzio reporting that they are close to doing so.

Roma and Porto have agreed upon the basis of a deal with a total transfer fee of 50 million euros. This deal will see Roma pay 25 million euros this summer, with Porto will hold a 50% sell-on clause for the deal. But, this sell-on clause will then be waived next summer once Roma pay the other 25 million euros completing the 50 million euro transfer fee.
But, the deal has struck one roadblock as Porto want to include a buy-back clause. Porto want to model the deal off Real Madrid’s sale of Nico Paz to Como, which has stalled the deal. Roma have not turned down the idea of a buy-back clause for Porto yet but they are still evaluating it before completing a deal.
