Inter Milan close to agreeing to sign Cristian Romero with Tottenham
Inter Milan are still yet to make a major signing this transfer window. They were close with Anan Khalaili, but he failed his medical because he couldn’t pass all the CONI regulations. This has left Inter still needing to sign centre-back to try and keep their dominance into next season. Stefan De Vrij, Francesco Acerbi and Mateo Darmain all left Inter as Chivu wanted to make their squad younger.
Inter will therefore need to sign at least one defender to try and pluck the gaps left by losing the three experienced veterans. The current rumours are that Cristian Romero is Inter preferred target and could be signed for the Nerazzuri. Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the current situation on negotiations between Inter Milan and Tottenham.

Romano is reporting that Inter are almost halfway completed in the deal to sign Romero. This comes as Inter are close to agreeing the transfer fee with Tottenham to sign Romero. Inter will pay Tottenham a bid of around 40 million euros as a bas agreement to sign Romero. Inter will now just need to finalise the bonuses, and minor details to have an agreement with Romero.
Tottenham were asking for 50 million or more euros before the summer to sell Romero. However, Romero gave his priority to joining Inter Milan despite the interest from other top European clubs, mainly Barcelona and Arsenal. Inter will now just need to agree personal terms with Romero to complete the deal.
Romero is set to ask for six million euros as salary per season to join Inter. This is the same as his current salary that he is on Tottenham, but could be a struggle for Inter. Six million per season will be one of the club top earner for next season. Six million per season to go along with his 40 million transfer fee could make the deal hard for Inter, especially if Benjamin Pavard isn’t sold this summer.
