AS Roma has had attacking struggles for most of this season, despite the hiring of new head coach Gian Piero Gasperini. Gasperini has been known to be an attacking based coach but his attack has struggled this season. This could be down to poor recruitment by Roma.

Gasperini wanted a replacement for Artem Dovbyk in the summer something he didn’t get. The only attacker Roma signed was Evan Ferguson on loan, someone who Gasp isn’t a fan of. A poor mercato could bear the weight of Roma’s goalscoring blows, but it could also be old support.

Matthias Soule plays regularly as one of the two attacking midfielders in Gasperini system. However, other than that only had Lorenzo Pellegrini, Paulo Dybala or Stephen El Shaarawy. This was before the January transfer window which saw them sign Donyell Malen, Robinio Vaz and Bryan Zaragoza. (read more on the signing of Vaz) (read more on the signing of Zaragoza)

AS Roma will have to make room for all of these new players, for this season and next. Currently it isn’t an issue as Roma have a deep injury list, so no one is struggling for gametime. However, at the start of next season that could become a serious issue, once everyone is fit.

Alfredo Pedulla, reports that Roma will let two players walk as free agents to make room for these players. Firstly is Paulo Dybala who could leave at the end of this season. But, this is no surprise as this has been rumoured for months with a move back to Argentina, but other teams are interested. (read more here)

The second is Lorenzo Pellegrini who could leave Roma after this season. Pellegrini has been with Roma for nine years and this could be his final year with them. However, this Roma could be wrong with recent reports stating that he is set to sign an extension with Roma. (read more here)

Juventus’s season so far has been a story of two halves, split between Igor Tudor and Luciano Spalletti. Igor Tudor was the coach to start the season for Juventus, as he was hired as an interim after Thiago Motta. Tudor, took Juventus to a mixed Club World Cup being eliminated in the Round of 16 by Real Madrid.

Spalletti has taken charge of 21 games so far in Turin winning, 13 of them. Juventus has only lost three games in his coaching stint, so far which has lead to talks for a contract extension. Majority of Juventus players have seen an uptick in form ever since Spalletti joined the side as well.

Of course there has still be some strugglers like Andrea Cambiaso, who has had a poor season for Juventus in general. The squad has mainly seen improvement. Someone who has benefited immensely has been Weston Mckennie who has looked like the best he has ever played.

This has lead to talks of a contract extension for the American a complete flip of the script from him leaving, which was rumored in the summer. However, Alfredo Pedulla is reporting that this deal is slowing down.

Juventus and Mckennie did manage to come to terms last season, but that has fallen apart. The two parties have failed to agree upon agent fees, and Mckennie could now leave Juventus as a free agent. Inter ended last season, on a very low note, losing the Champions League final to PSG. It was not just loss but the style in which it happened with Inter suffering a 5-0 thumping. This led to coach Simone Inzaghi stepping away from the project making a move to join Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia.

This was a move that caught Inter off guard and they were forced to make a rush hire. The process was shortened more due to the upcoming Club World Cup, Inter would be set to play in. This led to Inter hiring former player Cristian Chivu from Parma, despite only having seven games of league experience.

The move was ridcudled at the time by critics and supporters alike. However, everything that was said about Chivu turned out to be wrong as he has Inter thriving on all fronts. They currently sit first in the league, five points ahead of second place AC Milan and are set to play in the Champions League round of 32 next week. (read more here)

This has lead to talks contract extension despite his current deal not expiring until the end of next season. Inter would like to lock him down for another season according to Tutto Sport. This would see Chivu stay in Milan until 2028, and also make it harder for other teams to poach him.

Currently, Chivu earns 2.5 million euros coaching for Inter, but this could go up. A new deal would have to be signed for this to be the case and it will all depends on Inter’s result. If the Nerazzurri win the league and make a deep run in the Champions League his pay could increase with a new deal.
