Denzel Dumfries set to miss Derby della Madonnia

Inter Milan are set to take on AC Milan for one of the final derbies ever at the San Siro. The game couldn’t come at a better time as the two teams are both competing at the top of the table. Inter are tied for first with AC Milan sitting third only two points behind with 22 points.

This derby could have huge impacts on the entire top four, not just for the two Milan teams. This is why both are trying to rush players back from the international break to prepare. However, this could be an issue for Inter as some of there players are fatigued after being away from Milan.

This is true for Denzel Dumfries who left the Netherlands camp early due to injury. There was still some optimism that he would be able to play against Milan. However, reports from Sky Sport kills these dreams as it is now an almost certainty that he will not play.

This will leave Christian Chivu with a difficult choice to make trying to replace him. One option is Carlos Augusto who has been a rotating between a centre back and wing back role. He would be the best choice to replace Dumfries for Chivu, but there is an issue.

Playing Augusto, could leave the back three weakened, but there is one other solution. Chivu could play Luis Henrique on the right side to replace Dumfries. He hasn’t been as good as Augusto this season since signing from Lyon but he has one positive. The back three would be stronger with Augusto there and Henrique as a wing back, instead of Augusto on the wingback.

Napoli suffer another midfield injury during International break.

Napoli have been looking to repeat their success from last season and go back to back for league titles. This would bring Napoli their fifth title ever. It would also be their third title since 2022, marking a dominant period of success for the club. They looked to do this by strenghting mainly in the attacking areas of the pitch.

Napoli did this by signing two strikers, Lorenzo Lucca and Rasmus Hojlund. This was likely done to replace Romelu Lukaku as he suffered an injury during the pre-season. This injury problem was only made worse when Stanislav Lobotka when down injured.

However, Kevin De Bruyne was signed as a free agent, so he was looked as to replace Lobotka minutes until he returned. Now that Lobokta is beginning to return from injury, Kevin De Bruyne has gown down. He suffered a serious hamstring while taking a penalty against Inter Milan.

Now he is injured for a long time as Lobotka looks to get back into the side and take over some of those minutes. Now however, Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa has picked up an injury. This was as he was training with the cameroon national team before the start of the international break.

This is as Gazzetta dello sport reports that he has suffered a muscle injury in training. The extent of which is not yet known and he will need to go under more test. It is unknown currently if he will return to Naples straight away or if he will stay in Morocco with his national team.
