Pisa are set to host AC Milan on their return to Serie A. Today’s game will be the first time Pisa have hosted Milan in the league since 1991. In their last league meeting in Pisa, Milan managed a 1-0 win thanks to a goal from Paolo Maldini. A similar result is likely on the cards with a 19th place Pisa and a 2nd place AC Milan.

However, Pisa managed to scrape a point in the reverse fixture in Milan. Two second half goals from Pisa had them set up to win but a Zachary Athekame would save a point for the hosts. A win today would be Pisa’s second and put them below Fiorentina on only goal difference.

But, Milan still need all three points if they want to keep up with Inter. The Rossoneri have an extended break coming into this game as there game against Como was delayed. Due to the San Siro being used for the Milan Cortina olympics, Milan had nowhere to play. However, this break isn’t exactly needed for a Milan team who haven’t lost a game this year.

Predicted Lineups

Pisa: 3-4-3

Simone Scuffet

Simone Canestrelli, Antonio Caracciolo, Radoslav Bozhinov
Idrissa Touré, Felipe Loyola, Michel Aebischer, Samuele Angori,
Matteo Tramoni, Rafiu Durosinmi, Stefano Moreo

Pisa will make no change between the sticks or from the back three from their draw to Hellas Verona. They will however, change shape from a 3-4-2-1 to a 3-4-3. This means that Filip Stojilkovic will drop to the bench, to make way for Matteo Tramoni who will play on the left wing.
AC Milan: 3-5-2
Mike Maignan
Fikayo Tomori, Matteo Gabbia, Strahinja Pavlovic
Zachary Athekame, Youssouf Fofana, Luka Modrić, Adrien Rabiot, Davide Bartesaghi
Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Christopher Nkunku
AC Milan will use their strongest back three this season, with Tomori, Gabbia and Pavlovic in defence, with Mike Maignan behind them. The midfield will stay unchanged from their 3-0 win away from home against Bologna, as Athekame takes the place of an injured Saelemaekers. Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christoper Nkunku will play as the front two, likely meaning Loftus-Cheek will drop in a little bit.
