Casemiro is in his fourth season at Manchester United, and he already could be set to leave. Four years would be a long stint for most players but Casemiro, someone who spent eleven years at Real Madrid it is a small timespan. United are preparing for a plan to replace him this summer.

They have only begun their search in Europe, but they have already landed on a key name. According to Calcio Mercato IT, they are interested in signing Manuel Locatelli. However, the deal will be difficult for United, as Locatelli isn’t up for sale by Juventus as of now.

Locatelli and Luciano Spalletti, have had their differences, with Locatelli missing out on Euro 2024. This came while Spalletti was head coach of the Azzurri, as he rarely played for Spalletti. But, in Turin the two have clicked with Locatelli being a key player for Spallettis side this season.

However, Juventus could be convinced to sell if a big offer could come in that would allow them to sign someone else. This comes as Juventus has been linked to Sandro Tonali for the last year. Tonali has played well for Newcastle but has struggled to adapt to life in England.

TEAMtalk are reporting that Tonali would prefer a move to Italy if he does leave Newcastle this season. If, Juventus sell Locatelli for a large amount that could lead to them signing Sandro Tonali in the summer. However, a deal for Tonali doesn’t rely on Locatelli leaving Turin.

However, Juventus aren’t also the only Italian team interested in Tonali. Inter Milan have also been monitoring the defensive midfielder as they look to strengthen the midfield in the summer. But, they could choose to sign Weston Mckennie on a free transfer instead. (read more here)

Sassuolo have been a staple of Serie A in recent history, consistently being in the mid table of Serie A. However, they faulted two years ago being relegated to Serie B, but for only one season. Ever since then they have bounced back being led by Fabio Grosso they currently sit 11th in Serie A.

Sassuolo has undergone a mini rebuild, to retool this team to one good enough for Serie A. A key name to this has been Tarik Muharemovic who was bought from Juventus, at the start of last season. He has been one of the best young defenders in Serie A this season.

Muharemovic top form has seen him linked to all kinds of big moves, but there is a main three according to Fabrizio Romano. Firstly, Juventus could try to resign Muharemovic from Sassuolo a deal which would be made easier then other moves. Juventus hold a 50% sell on clause for Muharemovic which could be waived if they are to sign him.

This would make the deal cheaper compared to any other teams trying to sign Muharemovic. Inter are also monitoring the Bosnian ahead of a summer transfer window. Inter could lose a centre back in the summer to Bayern Munich which would make his signing more important. (read more here)

However, Muharemovic isn’t guaranteed to stay in Serie A with multiple Premier League sides also being interested in signing the centre back. Bournemouth is leading the charge for a deal for Muharemovic, but they are no guarantee to be the club that signs him in the summer.

Bayern Munich has in the last decade been the strongest team in the Bundesliga. They have consistently won the league every season except for Bayer Leverkusen’s undefeated league season. One of the ways they have done this is constantly been the best team is by signing the best players from their Bundesliga competition.

Dayot Upamecano was one of these players, who was signed from RB Leipzig in 2021 for 42.5 million euros. Upamecano has developed into one of the best players in the world at Bayern Munich. However, one of the problems with having the best players is the struggle to keep them, something Bayern faced with Upamecano.

But, Bayern did come to an agreement to extend Upamecano contract until 2030. They are now looking to build a strong defence around him and Jonathan Tah. A boost in the back could be required if Kim Min Jae was to leave Bayern, a move which has been linked recently.

While traditionally Bayern have looked to sign inside Bundesliga to add players to their squad. Luka Vuskovic from HSV is a name from inside the Bundesliga he isn’t the only name. Yann Aurel Bisseck is also a name to watch for Bayern as the German defender could make a move home.

This comes from a report from German tabloid SPORT1, who call him a serious candidate. The possibility of the move would be boosted if Kim Min Jae was to leave but wouldn’t make it definitive. This is especially true as Yann Aurel Bisseck doesn’t have a huge motivation to move.

Bisseck has played for Inter 21 times this season, starting or off the bench. There is no guarantee he would get more gametime at Bayern, especially with Upamecano and Tah ahead of him. A big pay rise isn’t guaranteed either with a move to Bayern so it hard to see Bisseck playing for Bayern anytime soon, unless he has a unknown desire to do so.

Jean-Phillipe Mateta was one of the biggest names in this Serie A transfer window as he looked set to make a move to Italy. Juventus were the first team interested in his services, managing to agree a four year deal with Mateta. But they failed to come to agreement with Palace as they didn’t want to pay 40 million for Mateta straight up.

AC Milan were the second team up to try and bring Mateta to Italy. They also managed to agree a deal with Mateta on a four year contract. Milan had the same struggles as Juventus as they couldn’t agree a deal with Crystal Palace. Then however, Palace signed Jorgen Strand Larsen from Wolverhampton Wanders as a replacement for Mateta for £70M.

This then lead to them looking for somewhere to sell Mateta as to not have a headache up top. Palace managed to agree a deal with Mateta but that fell through. Jean-Philippe was not open to that move wanting to go somewhere else in Europe, specifically Italy or France. This left Palace in a pickle as they didn’t have any suitors at their asking price of €35M.

AC Milan changed their bud from a loan to buy to a permanent transfer but keeping at €30M. Palace decided to accept with the deadline being close by and not wanting to keep Mateta or his wages.

Mateta and Milan scheduled his medical to take place in London with Milan’s medical team travelling across the pond. However, this deal would fall through as Mateta would fail his medical in London as he has an injury requiring surgery sidelining him for 3-4 months. This means that Niclas Fullkrug will be the only striker.
